If you’re planning a trip to Belize, you’ll want to make sure you pack the right items to make your trip a success! Belize is located near the Caribbean Sea and has a tropical climate, However, you can say the country has 2 distinct wet and dry seasons. The dry seasons typically occur in December through May. The Wet season occurs in June through November.
Wet Season
Rain Jackets: This probably goes without saying, but a rain jacket or poncho is a must-have for any rainy destination
Quick dry clothes: Leave behind the classic tees and jeans and bring along quick-drying clothing instead. Polyester based or synthetic fabrics should do the trick. Bringing these fabrics will reduce the risk of clothes staying damp and mildewing in your suitcase
Appropriate Footwear: Traveling typically involves lots of walking around outside, potentially on slippery surfaces, so your footwear should be up for the challenge.
Bring along Waterproof rain boots, hiking boots, old sneakers or sturdy Sandals that you don't mind getting muddy or wet.
Consider Lighting: The rainy season is accompanied by rolling blackouts, so it’s immensely helpful to have your own source of lighting. Some resorts may provide you with one but it's always best to have one in your travelling bag.
Dry Season
Sun Screen: Ok, this one is obvious, but don't forget it!
Hat: A hat is a must for sun protection if you will be spending a lot of time outdoors. Ideally, I recommend a wide brim hat but even a baseball cap is better than nothing. Coolibar hats and clothes have excellent sun protection.
Tote: Bring a packable or wearable water-resistant beach bag, fanny pack, or backpack for heading to the beach, site seeing, or shopping. Just be sure you have room in your luggage or carry-on for the trip home.
Sunglasses: A must for summer travel!
Clothing: Comfortable and breathable summer clothing. Shorts, tank tops, and bathing suits.
